Toddler Bedroom & Playroom Furniture

These are some of my favorite things we use every day that make my life a whisper easier.

  1. Bunk Bed

I was so excited for the day that Angus was going to crawl out of his crib and I was so prepared, or at least I thought I was. Initially we bought a small toddler bed, which I stand by and would have been great but with the anticipation of the big move I wasn't sure if the kids would have to share a room or not so we went with bunk beds. This is a whole post of it's own, you can get kids to sleep together with little issue but it proved not right for the moment and ultimately not necessary.

Regardless, we went with this bunk bed and with a few minor modifications we LOVE it! Angus got this bed when he was around 2 1/2, which friends thought was crazy but proved to be fine. We added traction to the slide in the form of that felt stuff you can get at Home Depot, because it is a death trap without it and we ended up not using the doors on the bottom. We also added handles on the slide and stairs, 10/10 recommend. This really helps both kids and myself feel safe. I think we added a total of 7 handles. We love the bunk bed and both kids now play on it like a jungle gym, a welcome energy suck. PSA we initially bought mattresses way too big , these 6" ones are cheap, functional and comfortable and use these mattress protectors.

  1. Toddler Pillow

I was so overwhelmed by all of the decisions you have to make when it comes to basic simple things, like a pillow for my toddler newly transitioned from crib to big kid bed. These pillows are great, we have two of them for Angus, Marigold is still in a crib and does not have a pillow. I read that they do not really need a pillow for quite sometime and when you do transition them the pillows they need to be the right size so not to hurt their neck. Though obvious one might say, "what is the right size? 13 x 18 inches. I love the muslin for the pillow cases and for the crib sheets. I haven't been able to find muslin in twin size. These are also THE BEST first quilts by Clementine kids!

  1. Bookshelves

I am so surprised that so much of this stuff is rated to poorly, I love all of these things. Of course it is all in what you value, you do have to put these together and they can be a bit tricky to hang but overall they get the job done and look cute at a reasonable price.

Look, if you can and want to afford Lalo everything, well I 10/10 recommend that, they are a wonderful and thoughtful company for sure, LOVE their kids cups, dishes and cutlery, which happen to be pretty reasonably priced, but! If you are looking for a deal that is also mostly quality and gets the job done, this is it! Comparatively very affordable and offers so much. I bought this because Old Navy had a table and bench in Maui and Angus loved it, probably as much as he love this one at home. The kids both congregate around this thing. They now move it all around and climb all over it, it is extremely sturdy and so easy to put together. We do tighten the legs and screws randomly as they do get lose over time with all the use. Doesn't bother me one bit to maintain. I also love the middle pocket and option to cover it for a larger surface area. As of late Angus eats breakfast here most mornings.

  1. Toy Chest

This was another one I did not expect to have such bad reviews, we love this thing. It looks nice, has way more storage than one would expect and I love the book cubby. To be fare I did not put together any of this furniture, Tim did and I think that has a lot to do with the reviews. Regardless, I think this is sleek, I appreciate all the depth and space and as mentioned, love the book holder at the front. Both kids can easily open and explore without issue. It also has a soft close/open. Highly recommend. They also climb on this and for some reason it is still standing.

  1. Kids Recliner

It looks like they don't offer this in the rust orange we previously purchased for Marigold but we do have this color blue and like it a lot. Finding something that was functional, cute and the right size and price was a challenge to say the least. I finally stumbled upon this one by The Crew Furniture and am obsessed. When we first moved we were sans couch so the kids used these every day. The are a good size and seemingly very comfortable for them to recline and relax. Now we have one in Angus' room and Marigold's in the living room.

A life saver when we moved into our new home! Our stuff had arrived in Seattle but it would be a night and a day before we would be able to pick it up and then another few days before we would be able to put the giant bunkbed together. Angus had a pretty rough transition and wasn't super stoked not to have his bed. Luckily this thing seemed to do the trick in the in between! Easy to pump with the provided hand pump and just a fun thing to do. Angus really got a kick out of this thing. Super grateful for this, it would be great for time at a grand parent's or for travel too.
