I cannot with how wonderful the Oregon Zoo Lights are! Literally a 100/10 experience. I have been living at the Zoo for the past week between the Turkey Trot and Zoo Lights and just zooing in general, can I have a job or what?
I was a bit hesitant about spending the money and going but each week for months now, more and more lights were going up and our last visit really pushed me over the edge. This, unlike the Turkey Trot was extremely organized and so easy to be a part of. Anthony and I often talk about how good customer service is when the employees don’t expect you to know what they know. For example, Zoo Lights was laid out in an easy way where there were not a lot of unknowns. It was an extremely easy and intuitive experience and whatever we didn't know there were employees everywhere to help.
The train was so organized. Getting into the Zoo itself was simple and direct. There was delicious food and beverage everywhere. Two wonderful play areas for the kids to run around. Fun souvenirs, all around interactive and beautiful. Parking was not an issue, though we did go to the first time slot or one of the first time slots at 4:30PM with all the other parents. It’s just getting dark at this time and perfect timing to get through the Zoo and home in time for dinner and a bath.
Overall I cannot praise this experience enough. The kids had so much fun, we took our double stroller and dressed them literally in snow pants and coats, which proved to be the right decision. We learned from the Turkey Trot that they really needed much warmer clothing. We got an elephant ear, dinner from Verde Cocina, ahhmazing and the bubble machines that lit up. The bubble machines really pulled it together for us at the end because the kids were getting tired and overstimulated and the bubble machines were such a gifted distraction for them and literally everyone who walked by.
Need to Know:
4:30PM was perfect timing for us
We arrived at 4PM to find parking, which was very attainable
Double stroller for the win, we didn't take the Thule, a bit big. If you have a Baby Jogger do that one.
We did the train pretty much right when we got there, which was ideal since the line got looonnnggg. We also purchased train tickets online with our main tickets making it a very smooth process.
Elephant Ear was delicious and provided fun seating for the kids to run around near the fire pit under the giant tent.
Verde Cocina! SOOO worth it. We got two (2) Pollo y Papas Bowls for 4 people and it was perfect and so quick!
Bubble Machines worth it! Don't forget to mention being a member if you are for your discount on all purchases.
The lighted play areas by the amphitheater and then past Africa are so fun!
If you get cold, dress for a winter excursion! Was perfect for the kids to be dressed so warm.
Overall this experience was definitely worth the money and I recently saw that they offer snow globes for groups of 6 or something. I think this would be fun if you don’t bring the kids but some other friends.
