Christmas Mountain, Chaaaarlie

This was so fun! Often Anthony and I just get a tag and go into the forest to cut our tree but with family in town we wanted it to be a simplified and easy experience. I cannot remember whose page talked about Christmas Mountain but I am so grateful to them, thank you!

Located in Scappoose, a mere 25/30 minutes from North Portland it was the perfect destination for an easy and fun U Cut experience.

You book your time slot online, arrive, park, show your ticket (one per car not per person), write your name on your tag and off you go via tractor to find the perfect tree. A saw and knee pad are provided. They have a wide variety of trees but we went with a traditional Grand Fir :

The Grand Fir produces a beautiful, thick foliage and is known for its fragrance. In fact, the Grand Firs is the most fragrant of all of the Christmas trees. The undersides of the branches are silver, presenting a festive tree for decoration. It is an excellent choice if you enjoy walking into your home and having the wonderful fresh "Christmas" aroma greet you.

These trees need a bit more watering and care but thus far we have been super pleased with it and honestly it hasn’t been that demanding.

Once we chose, cut and dropped our tree at the nearest pick up location we started the short walk back to the fire pit and complimentary hot chocolate. Angus was able to shyly see Santa and Mrs. Clause as they left and enjoyed a few doughnuts on the way out. We were also able to purchase a tree stand and wonder about. There was no pressure or urgency to leave and all of the staff was so happy, friendly and incredibly informative.

Our ticket was $12, the coco was complimentary, I think they had cider as well, the stand was $50, the tree was 7’3” and was $77.

Rain boots seemed to make the most sense, we dressed the kids in winter coats but it was fairly warm and once you were full of hot chocolate, by the fire or walking around you really didn't need a whole get up. The rain boots were the main necessity due to the mud.

I am sure there are a ton of wonderful U Cut Tree farms around town but this one knocked it out of the park for us. Beyond expectations. 10/10 recommend for an easy, fun and joyful experience.
